Davis Hill Ski Area Newburgh, ME
Last update 7/13/2013
After doing some researching looking lost ski areas in the Bangor area I found this old ski area that was located in Newburgh. I'm not sure if it's in relation to Ski-Horse which is in Newburgh also or not, but it was appariently located on Davis Hill in Newburgh. I've tried to research it using Google Archival searches but, nothing comes up. So far all I have about this area is a little caption and image of the area from a 1990's Paper Talks Magazine talking about stories from the 1940's. The caption under the picture of old ski area reads, "Part of the old ski area near Davis Hill in Newburgh is pictured here in this Febuary 27,1949 photo. The area was operated for a short time by a Mr. Rogers who brought the skiers to the top by means of a bulldozer- drawn series of sleds. Ben Norton is identified here on the right" (pg. 56) The article was written by, Lillian Powell. Below is the full article and picture.
