According to a Bangor Daily News Article sometimes in the 1950's Bald Mountain in Dedham offered one of it's portable ski tows to be used at Grotto-Cascade park in Bangor to offer midweek skiing. The old ski area was approximately across from the old waterworks which is on State Street. The article states that the area had for features a portable ski tow, lights for night skiing, ski patrol/supervision, a plowed parking area, and ski instructors for beginner skiers. Grotto-Cascade park is owned and maintained by the City of Bangor and is part of the Bangor Parks. It is no longer a ski area, but is a fully functional park offering many walking trails, places to picnic and a gazebo for weddings. I have provided the full archived article from the Bangor Daily below.
